The Easiest Edible Tub Paint for Toddlers

I have wanted to be a mother for pretty much my entire life. There are a number of reasons why but what sticks out most to me of those reasons is because of my relationship with my mom and all of the activities (like edible tub paint) she did with us growing up.

Raising A Lady

Mommy and Kaya at 1 month

I was brought up in a beautiful and loving home where children were seen and never heard.  My childhood was quintessential “Pleasantville”…at least the way I remember it.

Our mornings have transitioned from full on chaos Our mornings have transitioned from full on chaos to ritual chaos and we’re all AOK with this.
What’s ritual chaos?
I love lists. I love thinking things through and really making an actionable plan for each and every task or goal.
Having Kaya REALLY threw me in a tailspin and it’s taken almost the first three years of her life to recover and start putting order back in our family. While Kaya was ALWAYS taken care of, I often neglected myself and household duties and still felt guilty for not spending fun quality time with my daughter before taking her to childcare.

Above is just a small part of our morning ritual that I love more than anything. After Daddy leaves for work, Kaya comes in our room for morning cuddles. We talk about our dreams and all the people we know and look out our back window to get a sense of peace to start our typically chaotic days.
Start the day with peace. End the day with Peace. It’s definitely a work in progress but both of our behaviors and self care routines have improved drastically.
Captain Kitters helps most mornings 😉🐱

Over the holidays, I got a wild hair. 😂 When I Over the holidays, I got a wild hair. 😂

When I was asked to try out @moroccanoil color depositing mask, I was a bit hesitant! I’ve NEVER been anything other than a natural color and my mother would 100% not approve. However, I went for it anyway.
I was so surprised how much I loved it!! Swipe left to see it in different lighting! While it was such a fun color, it faded fast after a few washes. I’m now back to blonde, but this was so much fun.
If you’re going to try one of these masks, beware! The color sits EXACTLY where you place it. You can’t comb it through! I’d do it again though 😉

Finished the last of a batch of pulled pork, made a stupid easy creamed spinach and a couple of sunny side up eggs.
Time for all the naps! What’s a memorable meal you’ve made with fridge “scraps”?

It is the perfect morning for Kaya to use her new baking tools (made for toddler hands!) and try @krusteaz new line of Wild Blueberry protein muffins! Their mixes have always been delicious but now there’s a protein punch to keep us full and fueled all day! What Kaya doesn’t know yet is that she’s also completed her first meal prep! Holidays are a BIG DEAL at our house and they are Holidays are a BIG DEAL at our house and they are finally upon us! What a great excuse to get in the kitchen with family, roll up your sleeves and try something new and yummy! Holidays are about tradition in our homes growing up but we like the ease of relatively no-hassle meals. With having our toddler, Kaya, we knew we wanted her to be involved in all of our cooking and recipe developments. I like to think she's in an immersive home-ec program, HA! Of course, when getting creative in the kitchen like with our Pepper Sage Rubbed Pork Tenderloin and Cinnamon Raisin French Toast Cups, we rely on our favorite tastemaker brand @mccormickspice to give us those tried and true flavors to kick it up! Find all of your @mccormickspice ingredients at H-E-B this holiday season!

Kaya almost got her first kiss at her Thanksgiving Kaya almost got her first kiss at her Thanksgiving Feast at school, right in front of Daddy. 😂 She ran into sweet little Cyrus at the Thanksgiving party and he went for it until his mom called him off. His mom was so embarrassed, but I thought it was hilarious. 😂 Neil was rolling up his sleeves and side-eying cop dad ...I'm sure debating his next move against this 3 yr old Romeo.

So glad we could all make it for feast day! Yup...we made a Thanksgiving inspired Elotes dish. What a coincidence that her room was assigned to make a corn side 😉 We'll post that on the blog tonight!

Double tap if you looooove #brisket goodness!! 😲
Neil got to take Aaron Franklin's BBQ Masterclass recently and WOW, the simplest changes to how he prepped the meat before and sliced the meat after made all the difference. If meat butter was a "thing" this could totally be classified as that. *drool*
Simple brisket tacos with onion and cilantro on homemade tortillas is the perfect leftover weeknight meal!
Have fun with your food! 🥚 Jumping back into he Have fun with your food! 🥚
Jumping back into healthy isn't easy. Especially with the holidays coming up! The biggest lesson I've learned on this journey is that it isn't about getting it right 100% of the time. Have the cookies, pancakes and mac and cheese, but always center yourself. Make "healthy" your go to and where you find yourself again. We've found that living on fast food, eating out, etc is both tasty and addictive. When I know I can go back to my center and gain clarity, it's not as daunting. You're not restarting again. This entire process is a journey that flows with its ups and downs.

Do you have 10 minutes and a bag full of apples th Do you have 10 minutes and a bag full of apples that you know darn well you won't "get to"? 🍎🍏
Either toss them our way or try the easiest applesauce ever. We're not the first to discover this but man...nothing beats homemade. Nothing beats lowering our #foodwastefootprint in delicious ways!!

Try making homemade applesauce this fall! Mark another thing off our fall bucket list.

Yup...our two-year old has chores. She's had chore Yup...our two-year old has chores. She's had chores since she was one and rocks them out! 👍🏻
One of them being feeding the dogs. Yes, sometimes she spills the entire cup and picks up each kernel one by one to feed the dogs. Yes, sometimes she complains about having to do it but she always does her part eventually. 🐶
Responsibility does matter and I hear it's so much easier if you start them young. I definitely don't want to miss that boat!! 🤞🏻
Do your kids have chores or responsibilities too??
Neil and I might be newlyweds but we've been toget Neil and I might be newlyweds but we've been together for close to a decade. 👴🏻👵🏻 We share all of life's up and downs for the last nine years. We knew we'd need to challenge ourselves to not be caught in the ever looming "couch rut phase". There's a thin line couples walk between comfort and relationship laziness. 😴
Dancing was something we tried out earlier this year to prepare for our wedding. I was shocked/excited that @studlymcawesome liked it as much as he did! But, if you know us in the real world...He's a bit of a peacock. We had to tackle this new challenge together in hopes of not looking completely ridiculous in front of our guests. Both verbal and non verbal communication is 100% key here. It was such a valuable relationship-growing experience for us. One we hope (ok...maybe I hope) we can do again someday.
🐩
Trying new things doesn't HAVE to include paying a lot of money, or any! We know exactly how hard it is to keep the spark ignited, especially when you don't have much in the bank. Take a whirl around your kitchen floor after you put the littles to bed (or even while they're still up, they should see Mom and Dad as a couple, not just parents). The kitchen floor is by far our most used dance arena!!
🕺💃🏼
What's your favorite thing to do as a couple? Do you have any shared hobbies??
